Creating opportunities
“The diversity and complexity of the nation’s capital benefits the Richmond faculty and students by offering opportunities in environments that are different than what can be found in Richmond. In the last year, we have collaborated with Portia Cole, Ph.D., assistant professor, in Richmond to create summer volunteer internships on Capitol Hill. These students work in senators’ offices and participate in an independent study with designated faculty. I’m so pleased to be in a position where I can serve as a catalyst for exciting new opportunities that benefit VCU’s social work students and faculty members.”
